GAP is a ministry that is designed to encourage teens to make the transition from Kids’ Church to active participation in a Sunday congregational service. We’re aware that it is often challenging for our younger teens (Grades 8-9) to transition directly from Kids’ Church to an ordinary service. Given this ‘gap’ between Kids’ Church and our congregational services we have established GAP to prepare and equip our teens for our Sunday services. GAP is not merely ‘babysitting’ the teens until they are older. Rather, the purpose of GAP is to actively disciple them by modelling to them what it looks like to listen and engage with a sermon-resembling talk. Additionally, over time we intend to develop a ‘home-grown’ syllabus that focuses on the purpose, meaning and importance of church.
Format:
✓ Teens are invited to GAP by the Service Host at the same time the children leave
